Ruth Hayes studied saxophone at the Royal College of Music and subsequently completed her Master of Music Degree at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, where she studied saxophone, clarinet, and flute. During her 11 years in London, Ruth performed a BBC Promenade at the Royal Albert Hall, where she played the saxophone in Prokefiev’s Romeo and Juliet. Ruth has also performed at venues including the Barbican, Elgar Room and Snape Maltings. Ruthplayed saxophone and clarinet within the Thursford Christmas Spectacular from 2017-2019 and enjoyedtravelling to Norfolk each year to rehearse and perform as an on-stage musician. Instrumental teaching has always been a prominent part of Ruth’s music career, whether this is preparing individual students for Graded exams, or preparing ensembles for performances, all teaching is so rewarding. Teaching five different instruments brings such variety to her day, although saxophone is her favourite instrument to teach as it brings the most musical versatility, an aspect which Ruth believes is a central part of being a successful musician.
